Don’t Taunt the Monsters, Elliott

Seriously, bad idea.

Page 3-6 is live!

Things have been busy again between work and other engagements. We’ve been going to cons as of late, though as attendees, as opposed to exhibitors. That being said, we’re getting ready and strategizing for next year’s con season now that we’ve gotten some projects moving again. If you’ve been looking for us at cons and shows, Elliott and the others will be out to play again soon.

I’m also working on a writing project to flex some other creative muscles! The original idea was to do it for NaNoWriMo, however, the scope in planning seems to have surpassed the scope of what I can reasonably finish in a month, so I’m just going to keep writing until it’s finished. Maybe you’ll like it!

Oodles of Doodles and Dazed for Days

I’ve been out for the summer, but not necessarily on vacation ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My day job has been keeping me busy, as well as commissions. I’ve actually been suffering from a slight bit of burnout from these two things, but even worse, I’ve been dealing with creative constipation in the sense that I really want to work on Electric Fencer content that will push the story forward, but I’ve had a ton of other responsibilities that have set me back. Mental health has also taken something of an asswhooping these last few months so all I’ve really wanted to do was sleep or play video games. I got back into World of Warcraft, which has been a lot of fun. If only a soul-sucking timesink could help get comics done…

So while I haven’t been as active in this space the last few months as I’d like, I do have some excellent news: I have an appearance this month at the West Virginia Pop Culture Convention (WVPopCon) from August 27th to the 28th! During our appearance at 3 Rivers Comicon back in early June, the showrunner for WVPopCon approached us and invited us to purchase a booth at the event. We’ll be there with books, stickers, buttons, prints, and the like for sale.

Speaking of books, we’ve begun printing hard copies of Issue 1 to sell at conventions. We’re still figuring out what we’ll do to make them available for sale through the site. Big shout out to the mad lads at Greko Printing and Comix Well Spring for always turning out super high quality prints for us in such a short time and just being super cool about it.

I’ve also been working on doodles and sketches moreso than I ever have in the past, and I’m thinking some of that will be coming forward in Issue 3. I’ve already informed our writer that I’d like to go with a simpler visual style than the ultra detailed shading we had before, and the results I’ve been toying with have been coming out pretty nicely. Have a look:

This means that Issue 3 is going to be restarted to employ the new art style as well as fix some minor inconsistencies brought about by the original way we were going about it. The goal is to still have something out by mid-late October at the absolute latest, but I’ll keep you all posted should things change. With this style, I’m hoping to be able to finish the art for each issue much more quickly than before.

I think that’s about all I have for now, but I hope to be back with more updates before long. See you then!

Back to business

Sorry for the late update. Convention’s over, but the comic’s still rolling. Today we have pages 18 and 19. We’ve also got another character bio: Mr. Novak.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth at 3RC Lite! If you’re reading this and came from the convention, welcome! We’re glad to have you here. This weekend, we debuted a new version of Electric Fencer Shorts! at the convention, which featured a new final panel. I’ll have that up on Patreon and Ko-Fi in a few days.

Until next time!

Today’s update, in which I sell the story to M. Night Shyamalan, and for that I’m deeply sorry

Pages 16 and 17 are up and with them comes an updated profile for Marcus and a new profile for Dana.

Once again, this weekend I’ll be at 3 Rivers Comicon Lite with things to see and stuff to check out, so if you’re in the area, come by my booth and see what we’re all about and what we’ve got planned!

Do you believe in magic?

Pages 14 and 15 are up, and it appears one of our boys can call upon the power of Thor himself. Made an update to Andrew‘s profile, and now we have a new one: The Hoods. We’ve got a bit of a slow burn going on the action, but the intrigue is starting to pick up.

Just a reminder that October 16–17, I’ll be at 3 Rivers Comicon Lite in Homestead, PA so if you’re in the area, come hang out for a bit.

And then there were three (more characters)

What year is this? 2014?

Pages 12 and 13 are now up and with them come three new characters: Renée, Marcus, and Lance. We’re officially past the halfway point of Issue 1.

I made a few cosmetic changes to the site. Picked a few colors I felt worked better for the branding of the series and modified the menu a little bit.

I’ve also been diligently at work on prep for the 3 Rivers Comicon and will have lots to sell and give away. It’s been an exhausting (but also fun and interesting) process and I’m looking forward to seeing where things go with doing cons and the like. It’s also pretty expensive, and I don’t exactly have Renée’s levels of disposable income, so if you’re enjoying Electric Fencer so far, maybe consider supporting us on Patreon or Ko-Fi, or even buying something from us on RedBubble? It’d be super cool if you did :v

The Long Con(vention)

Pages 8 and 9 are now up, and with them comes a new character: Magnus. He’s silly. Keep an eye on this one.

I finally also made that drop to the Patreon and Ko-Fi pages I promised last week. Things have been really busy on my end with my day job and working on content for the site. I’m still getting used to making consistent updates beyond just shitposting memes on social media, so please bear with me as I get up to speed. If you’re not already a supporter, please consider becoming a subscriber on our $3 tier on either platform. Just $1 helps us out, but $3 also gets you the comic, and if you’re enjoying the main content so far, you’ll enjoy the supplemental materials for sure.

In other news, I’ve booked my first convention appearance! I’ll be at 3 Rivers Comicon Lite in Homestead, PA October 16–17!

I’ll have prints, stickers, buttons, and even comics to sell, so if you’re in the Pittsburgh area, come on over and say hi! We can hang out, talk shop, and I’ll even send you home with some goodies. Be sure to check out the other creators while you’re there as well!
